The project will provide students the opportunity to research a family member of their choosing and learn about the historical significance and events their family member experienced. Through online subscriptions and various other resources students will showcase their digital project including their written work and additional findings, and providing community members an opportunity to see their hard work. This cross-curricular, collaborative classroom project is aimed at improving academic skills. The project will take place in a classroom setting including collaboration from eighth grade social studies, communication arts, special education teachers and school librarians. In addition, parents, extended family members and local historians could contribute to the success of the individual family history projects.
